Description
WATonomous is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our Business Operations team. As our Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for creating compelling visual content that communicates our mission of building autonomous robots and showcases our technical achievements to sponsors, partners, and the broader community.
You will work closely with our marketing team, technical divisions, and leadership to develop a cohesive visual brand that represents WATonomous across all platforms. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend creative design with cutting-edge robotics technology.
Responsibilities
As a Graphic Designer at WATonomous, you will:
- Visual Brand Development: Create and maintain WATonomous's visual identity, including logos, color schemes, and design guidelines
- Marketing Materials: Design promotional materials including posters, banners, brochures, and presentation templates
- Digital Content Creation: Develop graphics for social media, website assets, and email campaigns
- Event Materials: Design materials for competitions, recruitment events, and sponsor presentations
- Technical Visualization: Work with engineering teams to create infographics and diagrams that explain complex technical concepts
- Merchandise Design: Create designs for team apparel, stickers, and other branded items
- Photo/Video Editing: Edit and enhance photos and videos from team events and robot demonstrations
- Sponsor Materials: Design professional sponsorship packages and thank-you materials
Key Qualifications
Required:
- Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or equivalent tools like Figma, Canva)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creative design work
- Understanding of design principles including typography, color theory, and composition
- Understanding of visual art tools like Procreate
- Ability to work within brand guidelines while bringing fresh creative ideas
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Nice to Have:
- Experience in Animation
- Knowledge of web design principles and UI/UX design
- Photography skills
- Experience designing for engineering or technical organizations
- Familiarity with print production processes
- Experience managing social media visual content

Time Commitment
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week, with increased involvement during key events such as:
